Linda MacMurray Gibbs’ entire career has been in independent schools. A graduate of Harpeth Hall School in Nashville, TN, she spent 15 years at Berkeley Prep in Tampa, FL, serving as Upper School administrator, admissions director, college counselor and teacher. She has headed three schools; Cathedral School of St. Mary in Garden City, NY, Hutchison School in Memphis, TN, and for the last decade, The Hewitt School in New York City. She spent six years at the National Association of Independent Schools as Vice President for Institutional Leadership. She was responsible for all programs for heads of school and trustees, including the Institutes for New Heads and Experienced Heads, Governance through Partnership and Leadership through Partnership. She has consulted with heads and trustees throughout the nation. She has served on the boards of The Windward School, Allen-Stevenson School, Staten Island Academy, the National Coalition of Girls Schools, the National Association of Principals of Schools for Girls, the Southern Association of Independent Schools and the Commission on Accreditation for the New York State Association of Independent Schools. She has served on five search committees and chaired two, and therefore adds knowledge of process to her broad range of contacts in the independent school world. |
