Roger J. Bass, a resident of Seattle, Washington, has been consulting with schools for close to 30 years, full-time for the last ten years, on a broad range of issues including transition/succession planning, governance, board/staff relations, founder's issues, school climate, strategic planning, retreat facilitation and executive coaching. He has been a search consultant for ten years, completing over 30 successful searches throughout mainland USA and Hawai’i. He currently serves as Vice Chair of the board of Cornish College of the Arts. Formerly served on three independent school boards: Catlin Gabel School (Portland, Oregon), Annie Wright School (Tacoma, Washington), and University Prep (Seattle, Washington). Roger was a founder and 25-year head of school of University Prep in Seattle. He has been on the boards of many arts, cultural, social service and educational boards including the National Association of Independent Schools (national treasurer), Pacific Northwest Association of Independent Schools (president), Seattle Arts Commission (chair), Seattle Arts and Lectures (president).
